The Fan (intake of air)

The fan is the engine of your air steriliser. It really does not matter how effective the device is

if the engine is too weak to drag all the air in the room through the device. In order to illustrate the difference between a small intake fan, found it the majority of air purifiers and the much larger, heavy duty intake fan found in the AIRDIATE 6, we simulated a smoke test.

01

Setting up

Each glass box contains a ventilation rig, capable of removing smoke from the air. The rig on the left, is equipped with a typical sized fan found in many air purifiers and the rig on the right is equipped with the AIRDIATE 6 fan.

Adding smoke

The same amount of smoke is added to both glass boxes and the devices switched on.

Initial observations

After a couple of minutes, it is clear to see that a bubble is starting to form around the smaller intake fan (left image) and smoke in the extremities of the glass box has hardly moved. This is in contrast to the smoke in the box containing the rig with the AIRDIATE 6 intake fan.

04

After 10 minutes

The rig equipped with the AIRDIATE 6 intake fan (right) has removed all the smoke from the glass box whereas the rig with the smaller intake fan has not.

If you consider the smoke representing 'contaminated air' then it is fair to say that the glass box (right) as a much safer environment than glass box (left).
